The Fighters
Guild exists to provide protection to the town of Moorgate and its
citizens. By coming together, Fighters have succeeded in employing the
finest tutors and obtaining the finest materials for producing weapons
and armor. By enabling individual Fighters to enhance their prowess in
battle, the foundations for an effective defense of the city are laid.
We also are here for our common good; working in concert and pooling
our resources and talents gives us greater results than we could obtain
individually. The whole is greater than the individual sums. The
Fighters Guild is more than the stonework of the fortress we call home:
it is the Fighters themselves.
The Guild
will stand firmly beside any Fighter who finds themselves under attack
as a result of carrying forward the purposes (as stated in the Policy
and Charter) of the Guild. Any persons who seek to harm the city, its
citizens, or welcome guests will not find themselves so supported.
Fighters are expected to behave in ways that do not bring harm upon the
Guild, its tutors, or employees. 'Harm' includes harm to the Guild's
reputation. Other occasional visitors to the Guild will enjoy similar
protection.
The Guild
is not to be considered as a place of refuge in personal battles. Using
the guild as a place of refuge from personal matter may result in harm
to the guild, tutors, employees, or other members. Depending upon the
severity of such damages, disciplinary actions will be taken if
personal battles bring harm to the Guild.
Within these
guidelines, it is clear that attacks upon the Guild will be resisted
with every means at our disposal. No person, being, organization, city
or nation will provoke the Fighters Guild with impunity.
Fighters are expected to treat each other with respect and dignity when
within the guild walls and within guildshouts. This is not to say that
Fighters are to show no dignity or respect while outside of these
venues. We are a family of sorts and are expected to treat each other
as equals, despite any personal disagreements we may have.
Acts that appear to be a breach of Guild discipline will be reviewed by
the Guildmaster who will consult the Guild Officers as appropriate
given the nature of the breach and the punishment under consideration.
The Guild
Officers are essential in assisting the Guildmaster in serving the
Guild. They will do this by being the eyes and ears of the Guildmaster,
providing leadership when the circumstances require it and by promoting
the Guildmaster's policy.
The
Guildmaster will select Guild Officers by whatever means he or she
chooses. Per our Guild Charter, the post of Head Mentor will be
selected by means of election. The frequency and necessity of such
elections will be at the judgment and discretion of the Guildmaster,
unless the majority of the Guild finds the Head Mentor no longer
adequately able to perform, effectively, his or her duties.
Assistant
Guildmaster: Firstly, this officer's role is to keep an eye open for
matters that affect the Guild as a whole that the Guildmaster has not
or may not otherwise spot. Secondly, the officer is also the person who
will fill the role of Guildmaster in the event of the elected
Guildmaster vacating the position before the end of his term. Thirdly,
the role includes an ambassadorial role with other guilds. This
officer, by the very nature of the position, will work closely with the
Guildmaster. As such, there will be a heavier responsibility and duty
placed upon him or her.
Head Mentor: This officer's jobs are to devise, maintain and develop
mentorship programs appropriate to the current needs of the Guild. The
Head Mentor may appoint Path Leaders to assist with the specifics of
each particular program, though they shall not be given the
administrative duties that other Guild Officers maintain. He or she is
expected to work closely with the Tower GLs to ensure a program that
everyone is satisfied with. The Head Mentor will also be expected to
keep extensive details on all current mentors, students, and young
members with no mentors. He or she will serve as guidance to those
members of our guild that have not yet entered a Tower.
Tower GLs (Knights', Rangers', and Barbarians'): These officers shall
be the representatives of his or her Tower and shall serve a two-fold
purpose. Firstly, these officers will be expected to work closely with
the Head Mentor on matters concerning the mentoring programs of the
Towers. These Guild Officers are expected to know, completely, the
mentorship program his or her specific Tower uses. They shall serve as
Path Leaders unless one is appointed to assist. Secondly, these Guild
Officers shall serve as a formal connection with the Guildmaster on
technical aspects of the tower. They are to make sure that the members
of their Towers are satisfied with all that it has to offer them, as
much as is practical.
The forging
prices exist to ensure all Fighters have a fair opportunity to sell
their wares. Those able to secure lower prices of raw materials should
not be seeking to exploit that advantage at the expense of their fellow
Guild mates. Therefore, openly advertising prices below those agreed
among the Guild, or suggesting that such prices might be obtained, will
be considered a breach of the pricing policy. Individual sales at
individually negotiated prices will not be a breach. The current prices
are displayed on both the notice boards in the lands and elsewhere
within this modest library of information. This policy is not intended
to interfere in any way with prices that are agreed among the Guild and
that may subject to change in the future.
The teaching
of skills by fighters to other people is permitted. To prevent this as
a matter of policy would be an unnecessary intrusion into the freedom
of Guild members. No harm is caused by it; indeed by strengthening
others the defense of the city is improved.
The
decision to teach or not to teach is left in the hands of the
individual.
Guild Titles
At Guild
rank 20, you will be allowed to request a title from your Guildmaster.
This title MUST be accurate with your own personality and roleplay. If
you are a follower of Morlend, you will NOT be titled "Child of Light".
To encourage the use of the message boards, the Guildmaster will be
asking anyone who requests a title, or a change to an existing title,
to post on the Fighters Guild Message Board something that reflects the
title request. This can either be a history of your character and how
they came upon the title you request or a roleplay situation that
clearly explains how you have earned your title. The only exception to
this will be for members of the Guild Guardians and for anyone who
earns a title within their Tower based mentor program.
The
prefixes "Sir" and "Lady" shall be awarded only to Knights in good
standing that have successfully completed the entire Knights' Tower
Mentorship Program. These prefixes will be extended and given to the
Knight on the day of his or her Knighting Ceremony as official markers
of Knighthood. These prefixes may be requested to change at a later
time after the ceremony. Similar-type suffixes that can be construed to
show Rank and Nobility as a means to circumvent this Policy shall be,
as with all other titles, at the discretion of the Guildmaster.
Other matters
From time to
time, other matters will require a declaration of policy. The
Guildmaster, who will consult with the Guild and Guild Officers
accordingly, will decide such matters. Decisions taken to solve an
immediate problem, or clarify an immediate situation, will not bind the
Guildmaster to a new policy although they may well form the basis for
one. The Guildmaster expects Guild Officers to make decisions regarding
the safety of the Guild and its members, and that will assist in its
smooth running. Such decisions will be supported, but will not bind the
Guildmaster to new policies.
The
Guildmaster will always act in what he or she considers being the best
interest of the Guild.
