Magical Energies

Clearly the most powerful and closest to the Immortals, the mages were limited in their ability to either defeat all enemies or cause havoc themselves, when Kali created us with limited magical energies. Our mana allows us to cast sheer walls of blizzard ice, burning balls of fire, blinding lights of healing and disruptions in time and space that allow us to move outside of the elements. A mage with her or his mana depleted is as defenseless as a puppy suddenly deserted by the bloodhound parents.

Spells that replenish our energies are the most coveted by any mage. These spells are the spells of refresh, invigorate and restore. Similar to heal, regenerate and body restore, these are three differently strong spells that will restore a few (refresh), some (invigorate) or all (restore) mana a mage has spent. In order to ensure superiority over the magi, the immortals have restricted these spells to themselves and their chosen heroes. Unless we find access to these spells, we have to rest in order to restore balance to our depleted Karma. It has been found that both training in Spiritual Karma and resting at certain areas like our guild bar will help the speed in which the mana returns to us. Mages are also known to be resting as soon as they leave battle or a fight pauses.

As for the spells, it is only in a few potions that we find these. The magic restore potions contain the spell of refresh. The undead digest these potions, hence those adventurers who fight in the graveyard will often find these in the pouches of the slain. These potions also are sold in the potion shops at 500 gold coins. One potion will have up to 10 helpings in a bottle. One sip will restore around 10 sps. You can carry as many as you have room for.

Far more powerful is the Draught of the Gods. Its power is so strong, even the most will-powered mage can only hold one potion at a time. Containing restore, it will replenish all mana lost in one sip. These potions are expensive; they cost 8000 gold coins and have up to 5 charges. Even with the most bartering imaginable, a potion still costs 4400 coins, thus almost 1500 per average charge.

Wizards have studied and explored the deeper arts of arcana for decades and made a stunning discovery. Rings that are made to entrap the very life force of demons have the power of invigorate. This spell will grant greater benefit than the magic restore potions. Once used up the rings however release the demon and return to the worthless copper core. These rings cannot be traded to others, and the ingredients are vastly expensive, making these a powerful toy, but unbeneficial for the long lasting battles.

Indeed it was not the wizards or warlocks but those most one with the planes of divinities, the monks, who discovered the secrets contained in certain herbs. By a recipe guarded with their lives, monks have found a way to create pastes that contain the same power as the draughts of the gods themselves: the restore spell. These pastes come with as many as three portions.

Item: paste of the spirit (paste)
When eaten, this paste restores the magical
energies depleted by the use of spells.
This item is edible. Invoke via the Eat command or use the Mix command to combine it with another item
This item contains the spell of Restore
The item has 3 charges left

Whilst the ingredients are costly and rare, the monks have made rules to prevent the wrath of the Immortals. Only monks are able to make and thus carry more than one paste at a time, for the power within will not tempt a monk.

All mages are expected to know and respect the rules set forth. Disobeying the rules has made magely legends fall, who have not been seen since. Attached you find the rules as reinstated by the Monks Guild Master, Herman.

Scribed by the Mages Guild Master Sodagayo, Year 192

Rules on Pastes of the Spirit

Ye all know that the powerful pastes (Spirit and Vitality) MUST be sold fer a minimum of 1000 gold pieces per charge. However, there are other rules which must be adhered tae.

Mages are meant tae have ONE Spirit paste at a time. However, if they are in a group, then ye are allowed tae sell one paste per member of that group. Ye may wish tae make sure that the members actually pick up the pastes, remember YE will be the one responsible fer them.

Selling pastes, then giving the gold back as a gift, is NAE allowed.

Dumping a load of pastes on the floor nae only looks suspicious, but will put yerself at risk more than anything else. If ye have pastes ye nae want, clean or destroy them.

Bear in mind, if ye are found tae be abusing pastes, ye WILL be punished severely by the gods and myself. There is nae excuse fer this behavior, the pastes are a gift tae us and can be reduced in power, or taken away if abuse continues.

Monks Guild Master Herman.
