The Labyrinth is the third and youngest subguild of the Mage's Guild. The Labyrinth came into being through the desire to gain knowledge from studying the confined soul of Dark Lord Merdread, founder of the Covenhouse. The inadvertent release of this dark soul led to an even greater Quest for the ancient knowledge required to be able to defeat Merdread. The final defeat of Merdread, and birth of thee Labyrinth, was led by thee great Kyrana and supported by mages of all paths. A firm request by Kyrana upon the creation of the Labyrinth was that it be a repository of Knowledge for thee Mage's Guild, and that it be dedicated to seeking and expanding the knowledge of magic for thee betterment of all Mages.
The Labyrinth is for those who are driven by this quest for knowledge. It is for those who feel neither strongly drawn to the White Magic of Nature nor to the Dark Magic of the Undead. Members of thee Labyrinth walk thee line between the two extremes of Magick, mayhaps straying either way as the Quest for Knowledge progresses along its path. No place or experience is forbidden, if knowledge can be gained. The Labyrinth embraces Knowledge as its path to Power.
The Labyrinth has a place for Mages of all classes. For it is only through gaining Knowledge in all avenues of Magick that we are allowed to grow.
While the Labyrinth encourages individuality, there are still basic Rules that must be followed by all Members. These basic Rules are set forth below.
- Articles obtained within the subguild are not to be dropped, given away, or sold.
- The process for entering the subguild sanctuary, as well as its unique spell and skill teaching rooms, is not to be discussed with other than sub-guild members. Assistance in gaining entry to these special subguild rooms shall be limited to broad hints. The responsibility for interpreting those hints lies with thee individual Mage.
- The Orb of Knowledge, obtained on entry, is to be worn at all times to clearly identify members and the unified goal of the subguild.
- All subguild members, as well as all Mages, are to be treated with courtesy and respect at all times.
