These are probably some of the most difficult times of your life. As I saw it, there are two main obstacles at this stage in your path, obtaining gold and leaving the city of Moorgate.
Gold:
Since you do not hunt directly and have yet to learn many Arcana skills from which to make gold, it is difficult to come by. There are several ways you are able to do this though. First, heal the hunter. This might not be for some of you in your path; you might have decided that you do not even wish to heal people while they hunt. But if this is within your path, if you offer to heal those in dangerous areas hunting or exploring, more often than not they will be more than willing to split their gold with you. Second is scavenging. This is where I made most of my gold in my youth. It was sufficient for my needs (along with the occasional kind friend). Luckily Pacifists save a lot of gold by not learning offensive spells or spending on extra armor. At this age, the best place to scavenge is the Fortress and the Causeways. It is amazing what hunters leave behind and how fast it adds up. Pick up everything worth more than 10 gold or so. Just make rounds. You'll do well some days, over 1-2k sometimes in a couple rounds, others nothing.
Leaving Moorgate:
The most obvious way to leave the city is well known and requires you kill. But there are two other ways. I can not tell you directly, but only give you hints. One requires you to be very very observant in the city and the Fortress and think hard on quests. The other is a catch-22 and involves a place you cannot go without an item you need from outside the city. Someone might let you in to explore... just be VERY careful. There is a quest that will help you out of the city, though. It is difficult but possible without killing to obtain your badge to leave the city.
Skills and spells:
In addition to the normal Shaman spells and skills (Learn Naturalism Spell Use and Spiritual Karma the best you can!!), I suggest you learn Magical Spell Use and the spells of Lurk and Unlock. The first helps you explore without being detected and advanced by creatures. The second gives you a bit of experience and gold; every bit counts. I would pass on Sorcery Spell Use at this level, though you might want to learn it at the next.
Glorious day! This is your first guild portal and a quickening of your step in your path. The main obstacle: entering lower Catacombs, commonly known as 2nd Cats. You must kill in order to do this, well, almost... more below.
Gold:
In addition to helping hunters stated above and scavenging (though this becomes less useful), you can now learn Arcana! Learn it well and practice it thoroughly! There are many, many items that adventurers are willing to pay well for (for quests). Learn these and sell, and sell often. The gold sustained and still sustains me.
Entering lower Catacombs:
You cannot without killing, at least at these levels. Here it will take great patience. Many, many years ago, when I was very young, I asked the immortals if they would open up the lower Cats to me and other who might not wish to kill. The answer at first seemed to be a firm no, but then one day a portal opened up mysteriously... any adventurer over land level 25 could enter through it to the lower Catacombs without killing the quest creature. I thought once I would never attain that level of experience, but finally I have... 30 years later. I believe it is getting faster for younger Pacifists. Some are close already, though still it will take patience.
Skills and spells:
In addition to now learning greater Heal and shards spells, you might want to consider learning a little Sorcery Spell Use. Perhaps take the lesson three times. Then learn Ensnare and later Web. Why? You most likely do not want to use these to hold poor creatures down while others kill them, but... they do have two good purposes. First, to hold creatures that discover you while you are exploring so that you may escape (I always have a spell readied even while I lurk, just in case) and second, for the experience and fun. It might sound boring for you, but if you go to the pass or other area alone (so no one will kill the poor things) and ensnare a few dragons, you can get a closer look at them, learn much and gain experience. I did this obsessively for months on end. I did get a little too compulsive, but I gained a lot of experience and know dragons very well now.
You are really making it to a high level for a Pacifist!! The main obstacle here is the slowness of time. You are so close to the next guild portal and to Serenity but you feel so far away. You've done so much ensnaring and webbing now, it brings you no new experience. Through your great knowledge of the land, you have completed most the quests you can find, yet many are beyond your reach because you can not protect yourself. Experience in general is harder to come by. Life can be very slow.
Gold:
Continue on as before. Help hunters and explorers if you will, continue selling items. Scavenging, though, becomes less useful, though I continue to pick up everything I see left around. I have found, though, that my need for gold is low now. I have trained most of what I need, have most of what I want and saved up a little for my next levels of training. Gold is not so much a problem any longer.
Lower Catacombs:
If you make land level 25, and you will eventually, you can now, without killing, enter LOWER CATACOMBS!!. It has been several years since I have done so. For me, at least, this is the first great milestone for a Pacifist. (The second is subguild Serenity; the third is learning resurrection at guild portal 32). As of this writing, I do not believe another Pacifist has made it to the lower cats without killing the beast, but I think those ranks will grow soon. Once you do, there will be many quests waiting for you! Enough, I have found, to give you about a total of three levels. I would suggest (as is a good general suggestion for everyone) to keep your guild level and land level even. I did not. I was guild level 21 when I entered the lower cats at land level 25. It's been a long struggle to make those next five guild levels! At least psychologically, it would have been better to enter lower cats at land level and guild level 25 and then enter Serenity soon after I finished the quests ::grins:: Well, learn from my mistakes ;-).
Skills and spells:
You can now learn RAISE DEAD! Frankly, this spell is not called upon very often, but is useful occasionally and you'll need to scribe the spell three times in preparation for the day you can learn Resurrection. I would not scribe it more though.
This will have to be added at a later date. I have not reached there yet.
Scribed by former Guild Ambassador Cassandra and first pacifist to ever enter the lower catacombs
Sealed by Guildmaster Sodagayo in the year 187
