Little has
been officially preserved of the first efforts to guide young monks
through the turmoil of their first steps on the path of a monk, but the
tradition to help new members leads back through the first
consolidation of our fine guild. During all ages, monks offered support
and advice to young Monks without asking for reward or glory. As the
Guild grew in numbers it became obvious that, besides such personal
dedication, a system had to be developed to teach the young monks not
only to survive but also to show them the meaning of being a Monk. Such
a system came into being during the Age of the Inner Garden under the
leadership of Revenant and the guiding hand of Maya.

When Galthus
became Guildmaster, he developed the mentoring program further. The
descriptions of the Paths of the monks have their origin in the Age of

When Herman
became Guild Master the guild had suffered badly under the Great Plague
and the mentoring program needed a revision to be adapted to the new
situation. The forces were concentrated on the three main paths of a
monk and the mentors honoured with the title Bushi.
