Stories And Tales

Many years ago, in a small village just outside of Evermarsh, there was a young couple who lived in a small humble hut. Garelick was a blacksmith, he forged weapons for the army that his brother Roland was in. Garelick was well know for his skills at forging swords and daggers. He could temper metal with great ease. Now his wife, Ripley was a weaver, she could weave fine fabrics into gowns, and other various cloths for the people in her village. Now these two led a simple life, they didn't have a lot of gold, but enough to put food on the table and to buy the few things they needed.

Ripley gave birth to a bouncing baby girl, she was very energetic and quite the curious one. Upon looking on her, Garelick named her Brouilly. For he liked that name and was also the name of his grandmother of long ago. Ripley and Garelick loved there only child very much.

As Brouilly become older she was very mischievous, often snooping around were she didn't belong in her village. The other people of the village put locks on there doors for they knew Brouilly would sneak into there homes and snoop around, She was always wondering what was in them. Then one day at home, Brouilly was eating dinner and her uncle Roland came over. He had dinner with the family, for it had been many seasons since Garelick and Roland had spent anytime together. Now shortly after dinner Garelick gave his brother Roland a black serrated dagger, and said to him, keep this in remembrance of our father, and may it serve you one day when you are in need. Now upon this the two of them embraced in there manly way, and said good-bye. Now Brouilly didn't know this at the time, but that would be the last time she would see her uncle.

Now as Brouilly became older, and her legs grew longer she wandered further and further from the village. Then one day she found her way to the city of Moorgate Oh how exciting she thought, more people then she had ever seen all in one place. All the merchants sell their wears from other lands from afar. And all the hustle and bustle that goes on in the city.

Now it became routine for Brouilly to go to Moorgate once or twice a week. Now Ripley didn't like this too much, but Garelick was quietly proud that his daughter had no fear to adventure to new places on her own.

Now Brouilly still being a kid, and curious, for some reason started to steal from the merchants in the streets. It started because for the height she was she could see right into a merchants pouch. And oh all the gold in them lit up her eyes. So it started by picking the merchant's pockets, which she rarely got caught for but every now and then it did happen.

One day when it did, and Brouilly was running away from the merchant chasing her down the street she fell into an open manhole, and into the sewers. Now from below she could hear the merchant give a fed up HUFF and muttering something about thieves. Now as Brouilly was sitting in the sewers and wondering what she had fallen into, to her horror a sewer thug appeared from around the bend, he was big and rough looking, and he smiled an evil smile and said "Oh my pretty little girl, looks like your days are numbered" and began to laugh in evil manner. Brouilly was horrified and frozen with fear for the first time. And from the shadows out of nowhere leaped a man who in a single blow killed the thug. The thug fell to his knees and then dropped on his face, laying there dead. Brouilly, still in fear and shock looked up and there stood this man who smiled at her.

"Hello young one" said the man "My name is Robyn Hood, what might your name be" he asked the little kid. "Brouilly" stuttered the little girl as she gulped hard, "are you going to hurt me?" she asked . Robyn grinned and replied "No, of course not, but I've heard about your acts in the streets little one. Would you like to become a great thief one day?" "Maybe" stuttered Brouilly still in awe struck as to what had just happen. Robyn then said "Well, when you feel you are ready come to the guild on Copper Walk. I look forward to you coming someday soon."

And with that Robyn disappeared into the shadows and was gone. Now, Brouilly climbed out of the sewers and was back on the street, and she hurried home. Once she arrived there, her mother was sitting before a fire looking quite disturbed. Brouilly inquired as to what was amiss. Ripley then preceded to tell her that her aunt and uncle had been killed by ogres who invaded their home and that Garelick had gone over to do what he could to help their village out from there oppressors.

Now a few days had passed when a page had arrived to deliver a message. The message said that Garelick would be home within a fortnight and would be coming back with Brouilly's cousin Midnightrogue. Now upon this news Brouilly became very excited, for she always had wished for a sister, but this was just as good. She couldn't wait.

The next day she ran back to Moorgate, and found her way onto Copper Walk, and as she stood before the rogues guild, Robyn appeared and told her that once she found the silver acorn, she could then join the guild and begin to learn the art of thievery.

"Where might that be?" thought Brouilly for she remembered hearing about some sort of acorn being in the catacombs, so there she went. Upon dodging arrows from kobolds, and outrunning goblins, and sneaking behind imps, Brouilly finally found the silver acorn. She stuck it in her pocket and proceeded to leave the cats. Now upon returning to the thieves guild, Brouilly stood before Robyn and offered the silver acorn to him. Robyn's eyes lit up and he smiled. "Welcome to the rogues guild young one, may you make this guild proud, and may we teach you all the skills you need to know. Welcome."

And upon this Brouilly has been a member of the rogues guild ever since.
