The
Beginning...
Darve roamed through the halls of the prison, looking into each cell
and knocking on some to intimidate the captured elves, halflings, and
gnomes.
"You filthy pieces of trash." He would occasionally say to the inmates,
and bang harder on the cells. Suddenly he came to his prize possession,
a family of elves he had captured in a raid against a small village. He
looked into the cell, first to the father, then to the mother, and then
to the baby.
"What's the baby's name?" He asked politely.
The mother looked at Darve and then looked back down at the child.
Darve gave a growl and asked more menacingly. The father turned around
and looked at Darve.
"Leave us alone, we have done nothing to you." He said.
"Don't talk to me like that you piece of trash, be lucky I didn't kill
you and your whole scummy family."
"Leave us alone."
Darve stood there for a couple of minutes and then spoke again, "What
is the baby's name?"
The mother looked up and then looked at her child again.
"DANG IT, TELL ME WHAT THE CHILD'S NAME!!!" He shouted and began
banging the cell, making the baby cry.
"MIKI, HIS NAME IS MIKI. OK? Now leave us alone!" The Mother screamed
and shushed her baby.
"How old is he?"
"One."
He smiled and then walked down the hall.
Soon it was night time and the prisoners were all asleep. Darve crept
to the cell where his prize was kept. He opened the cell as quietly as
possible and crept in eyeing Miki the whole time "That child is
mine..." He thought to himself as he crept to the mother who was
holding Miki, and lightly moved her arms off of the child. He picked
Miki up and carefully held him close as he exited the cell. Darve shut
the door and walked outside the prison camp to his horse. He climbed up
on it and kicked it to a steady pace, trying not to wake Miki up. Half
an hour later he reached his big house and opened the door, trying not
to wake his wife. He walked into a room he had been making for Miki and
placed him in the crib made of elven wood.
"Sleep tight Miki, with all the work to come you will be hoping you
were still young."
~~~Years passed and Miki soon became a slave~~~
A Slave's Life...
Miki at Five...
Miki walked through the fields behind the big house
looking for his best friend, Ka. She was the same age as him and they
always played together after the slave work was done. Miki's father
disapproved of it, he hated elves so much. Miki was forced to sit in
the stalls and groom the horses, help forge weapons and household
items, and even help in the lab to make weird devices that were only
found on the island of Zertia. His mother gave leeway to Ka since she
was Miki's only good friend.
"Ka?" Miki shouted while running through the fields, and hearing no
response.
"Ka?? KA!!!????" He shouted and was suddenly kicked in the butt,
"OUCH!" He turned and saw Ka smiling and giggling at him.
"Hello Miki."
"Hello Ka," Miki said while giggling, "Is your work done yet?"
"No not yet." Ka said with a sigh, "I still have to water all the
plants on the side of the house."
Usually this would sound easy, but the side of the house was big and
there were lots of plants there.
"Buttons!" Miki said in a depressed anger.
Ka waved and skipped off to finish her work, and Miki was left alone
again. He began to wander and look at the big house from the garden,
eyeing his window in the far left corner of the house. He sighed, the
room wasn't big and was dull. He was the next thing up from a slave,
which wasn't very good. Miki consider himself a slave on most accounts.
He wasn't treated well and was often beaten by his father. His mother
just didn't care much what Darve did to him.
"MIKI!!!!" An angry voice shouted, it was his father of course, and
Miki ran as fast as he could to reach him. When he arrived at his
father's feet he felt a hard backhand on his head. Miki stood silent,
knowing not to say anything or he would get more.
"What the heck is this??" Darve said holding up a curvy sword.
"It's a sword, sir." Miki responded.
"This isn't a sword!," He shouted at Miki, "This is a worthless piece
of trash!" As Darve shouted this he kicked Miki across the room.
"Go away! I don't want to see you for the rest of the day! GO! NOW! You
worthless scum...." Darve shouted at Miki.
Miki wondered why his father treats him like this, it was his first
sword. He walked away mumbling to himself. He walked outside and sat on
the steps, Ka came up behind him and sat down.
"What's wrong Miki?" She asked.
"I was just wondering why my father treats me so badly..." Miki
responded.
"Your father treats you badly?"
"Yeah, he always hits me and yells at me." Miki said mumbling.
Ka sighed, knowing she was not allowed to tell Miki about his real
parents. If she did it would be certain death for her.
"Oh don't worry about it, all daddies are like that." As she said this,
she rested her head on Miki's shoulder.
Miki always smiled when she did this and would snuggle closer to her.
They both stood and walked to their special tree where they watched the
sunset. They would sit on the strongest branch on the top of the tree
and watched the sunset. Ka would always fall asleep in the middle of it
and Miki would rest her up next to the tree. He would take the blanket
they brought up there and put it around her. He climbed down and walked
into the house and would go straight to bed.
~~~All of Miki's day's were like this up until the truth came out~~~
Revealed lies...
Miki at seven...
Miki awoke during the middle of the night and was being eyed down by a
number of elves.
"Don't scream..."
"We are here to help you..."
"Help you learn the truth..."
"Your father..."
"Darve..."
"Your Mother..."
"Ber..."
"They are humans..."
"You are elven..."
"You are a slave like the rest of us..."
"Just treated differently..."
"like a son..."
"You must leave Miki..."
"Find your real parents..."
"Go..."
"Leave..."
"Go..."
The whispers frightened Miki, he slowly got up and walked to the door.
He was suddenly stopped by Ka: "Miki take these," She said while
handing him leather armor and a broad sword. "Go, and don't forget us.
We want you to be safe." She kissed him on the cheek and motioned him
toward the window. Miki equipped himself and climbed out the window. He
hit the ground and ran, he ran as fast as he could. He needed to find
his real parents, but had no idea where to look. He walked through the
dark woods and stayed silent, he did not want to wake any unpleasant
creatures.
It was morning and Miki walked along the path and saw a broken sign on
the ground that read: "Moorgate.........Wes...." He couldn't make out
the whole sign and continued walking on the path. Soon he was at the
gates of a mighty city and walked in, avoiding the guards.
My parents have got to be here, there are plenty of elves here.
He walked to what appeared to be the center of the city. He looked and
did not find his parents, he searched all over the city and found
neither of them. He suddenly realized he didn't even know what to look
for, he had never seen his parents before and certainly didn't know
there names.
Miki walked along and found an area where you could train to fight. Not
knowing how to use a sword effectively, he went there and trained hard.
He heard of many new fighters talking of slaying a spirit of some sort
to prove their worth to a guild. He decided to try it, and searched
long and hard for this spirit. He met it face to face, after training
vigorously for hours he knew he was ready. He fought long and hard. He
almost died but came out with the kill. He rested up and began to
search for the guild that wanted the kill. He came upon the fighters
guild and decided to give it to them. Luckily the big man at the door
accepted it and let Miki in. He walked around, gold jingling in his
pocket, eager to learn, eager to get tougher, eager to free his friend
at the big house. He looked up to the message boards and saw one
message that caught his eye: In need of a Squire:
I seek one with honour and ambition to study under me in the arts of
combat and chivalry. I ask fer only a willingness to learn, lawfulness
to the Way of our Lord Ica. In return I will provide much of me
knowledge of the local areas, beasts strengths and weaknesses, and
combat knowledge, as well as the outfitting of weaponry and armour, in
time. I ask that none who already know the way of the land to apply,
and that ye truly wish to join me in the Knight's Guild one day. Only a
single squire will be taken as me understudy at this time, though more
will surely follow. Doesn't hurt to be a Fighter either ;)
Sir Jihad, Fighter's Guild GL and First Knight of Cosrin
Eager to learn and knowing he could do it, Miki sought out this Jihad
and asked about being a Squire. Miki smiled as the noble knight said
Miki was perfect for the job. He had much to learn of this knew land,
and needed help, but all along Miki kept one thought in mind:
I need to save my friends....
I need to save Ka...
And so that ends the story of Miki before Moorgate...
What will become of Miki in the future? Only the Gods know that.
